Note From Bobbi

Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that I send you this email.

We lost Guy at 10 AM on July 5th. He was very peaceful and
comfortable. I was holding his hand and he slipped away.

I'm sure he's approaching his new adventure with great enthusiasm. He
will be tap dancing down the streets of heaven soon looking for a
golf course.

A Memorial Service will be held this Thursday...time and place to be
decided later today.

As you may know, his great interest recently was the Homeless Center
in Palo Alto. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a
donation be made to the Community Working Group.

Thank you for all your support during his long illness.

Love,
Bobbi Blase

Note From Cece

Since many of you are aware of what I've been going through with my Dad, Guy Blase,

over the past year, I want to let you know that he died peacefully at home the morning

of July 5, 2003.

The term "a good death" is an oxymoron, but he was absolutely ready to leave this world

when he went. Several days earlier, on Sunday morning, he expressed surprise that he

"was still here." From that point on everything about him-- his countenance, the way

he expressed himself-- let us know that he was at peace with how his life was ending.

The lessons I learned from him over the past few days have been greater than the sum

of everything else he ever taught me.

I was in Half Moon Bay with Jim for my birthday but spoke with him briefly on the phone

just an hour before he died. I told him that I might see him that day but if I didn't, it would

be ok for him to leave because I knew he was at peace, and because I was going to be

fine with Jim.

I will let you know about the memorial service, if any of you want to attend.

Thanks for your loving thoughts.

Love, Cece
