California Migration Trends Showing More People Joining Our State

Patrick Carlisle over at Paragon Real Estate did a telling analysis and chart of people moving into California, based on 2016 data. Patrick observes that these numbers may change for 2017 due to new national legislation. And he states that these numbers will also probably apply microcosmically to the Bay Area.

What pops out immediately is that California is by far the greatest recipient of immigrants from countries abroad (332,197).  People moving to California from other states totaled 514,758, but we had a net loss of people moving out of CA to the tune of 143,000. But we gained in Californians because of those coming in from other countries.

The chart includes the states with the highest number of people moving here, plus those states receiving ex-Californians.
