This Weekend: Jack White
This weekend one of the contemporary greats of rock music takes the stage: Jack White is going to be performing at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium this Saturday, August 23. The show kicks off at 8 p.m., and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is located at 99 Grove Street in San Francisco. Tickets range from $63 to $160 and up, depending on the venue you choose for purchase.
A little about Jack White: he was born John Anthony Gillis on July 9, 1975. Not only does he play music, but he also produces, direct and occasionally takes the stage as an actor. The Nashville, Tennessee resident was previously married to Meg White, with whom he started his well-known band The White Stripes. Though they publicly claimed to be siblings, the two were indeed married and later divorced – but they continued to play together, producing such well-known hits as “Seven Nation Army” and “My Doorbell”.
Later White formed The Raconteurs in 2005 with Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence. Perhaps the best-known song from this band is “Steady As She Goes”, which Benson and White wrote together. In addition to their own tour, they played eight dates opening for folk classic act Bob Dylan.
In 2009, White formed the band The Dead Weather with the Kills’ frontwoman Alison Mosshart. Today he has a successful solo career, and he has collaborated with Dylan, Beck, the Rolling Stones and Alicia Keys, amongst other acts. He speaks very little about his personal life; according to Wikipedia, he once said: “It’s the same thing as asking Michaelangelo, ‘What kind of shoes do you wear?’ … In the end, it doesn’t really matter.”
Check him out!
